Newcomer to Canada Worksheet
For your first return after becoming a resident of Canada.
The date you became a resident matters more than anything else here. It splits the year: income earned before that date is generally not taxed in Canada, but it still affects the credits you can claim.
If you owned foreign property costing more than CAD $100,000 at any point, tell us — a separate form (T1135) is required and the penalties for missing it are steep.
When you have finished, email it to us. Click Download as spreadsheet above, then send the file to taxinfo@msacpa.ca with your name and the year you arrived in the subject line.
Send your supporting documents to the same address at the same time. Nothing is submitted from this page — the spreadsheet is yours until you email it.
This worksheet goes alongside your personal tax interview sheet, not instead of it. Fill in both.
